Posted in Automobile on May 17, 2021
As the economy reopens and we return (hopefully) to pre-pandemic “normalcy,” it’s safe to say that more people will be back on the roads. So then, what better time than now to review some safe driving tips? In this blog, we’ll look at ways to deal with common road hazards.
- Bad Weather
- Slow down and drive at a safe speed that matches the flow of traffic.
- Keep more distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
- Keep your windshield and windows clear.
- Use your headlights at the appropriate times.
- Reckless Drivers
- When you see a driver creating a dangerous environment, slow down, let him/her pass and keep a safe distance.
- Road Debris
- Slow down and try to change lanes.
- Construction Zones
- Watch out for road workers.
- Prepare to change lanes.
- Slow down.
- Potholes
- When you see a pothole on the road, keep a firm grip on your steering wheel, slow down and, if it is safe, try to drive around the pothole.
- Malfunctioning Traffic Lights
- Treat it as a four-way stop. Make sure all vehicles are stopped before proceeding.
- Watch out for drivers who just drive through the light without stopping.
- Animals on the Road
- If a collision is unavoidable, apply the brakes firmly and remain in your lane.
- Swerving to avoid an animal can often cause a more serious crash or result in drivers losing control of vehicles.
- Bad Traffic
- Be prepared to stop.
- Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
- Watch out for vehicles that cut you off.
