St. Augustine Hunger Center
Food drive Nov. 21 to benefit hunger center, sponsored by Elk & Elk
On Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, members of the Elk & Elk family will load up a truck full of turkeys and head to the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church Hunger Center in Tremont. For the eighth consecutive year, we will join with Cleveland sports radio host Mark "Munch" Bishop to help stock the parish pantry for the year to come.
On top of donating turkeys, our office goal this year is to fill our trailer with food donations collected from our employees.
The center will be collecting monetary and food donations from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the center at 2486 W. 14th St. Elk & Elk is proud to match every dollar given up to $12,000 during the Thanksgiving food drive.
We would love to see many of you come through and give of yourself to help those in need.
Tremont, Ohio, Hunger Center overview
The St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church Hunger Center in Tremont is a vital part of helping the needy in Cleveland. The center’s director, Sister Corita Ambro, works tirelessly to help feed the poor and homeless people in the Tremont community.
"Christ asks us to take care of everyone in the scriptures," Sister Corita said. "That’s what we try to do here at St. Augustine."
The center, staffed completely by volunteers, feeds hundreds of people three meals a day throughout the year.
The Thanksgiving food drive is St. Augustine’s biggest event of the year for the Hunter Center, however donations are accepted all year long.
