Would you rather kiss or drive? You can’t do both!

Albert Einstein allegedly said: “Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”

Many women may have gotten lost in one of your kisses over the years. Even so, you might seem more attractive if you are both a good kisser and a safe driver. But since a recent survey suggests most Americans overestimate their driving abilities, you might not be as skilled behind the wheel as you think you are – a widespread problem on Seattle’s roads.

Portland’s drivers rank poorly. Seattle isn’t much higher.

Like most Americans, you probably hate getting stuck in traffic – both because it is an irritating waste of time, and you cannot stand how other drivers handle their vehicles. And knowing your boss is going to yell at you if you clock into work late is no way to start the day.

However, there is no good reason to risk people’s lives by exceeding the speed limit or cutting in and out of traffic, trying to weasel your way to your destination faster than everyone else. In fact, statistics suggest that although Seattle drivers are improving, they still have significant room for improvement.

People in Brownsville, Texas are ranked as the nation’s safest drivers for 2019, but Seattle has a long way to go to reach the top of the recent Allstate Best Drivers Report. In fact:

• In 2018, Seattle drivers ranked 179th out of 200 cities throughout the United States
• This year, Seattle might be a safer place to drive, sitting in 155th place
• Of cities in the Pacific Northwest, only Portland, OR holds more risk than Seattle, ranked at number 181

Getting better is one thing, while being safe is another. However, whether you are going to kiss someone now or later, you might agree she would prefer you to get to her safely.
